Tennis Report

This week’s ATP action at Montpellier, Sofia and Quito is well underway and my outright selections are all still in their respective tournaments. At Montpellier Jeremy Chardy (40/1) and Fernando Verdasco (20/1) both won their first round matches and are back in action tomorrow, Chardy against Mathieu or Millot and Verdasco against NextGen star Medvedev. Gasquet gets his tournament underway tomorrow as well and will face either qualifier Lamasine or Jaziri.

At Sofia both of my outright selections Gilles Muller (5/1) and Grigor Dimitrov (11/4) are still in action. Muller won his opening match in comfortable fashion and will face fellow veteran Youzhny tomorrow. Dimitrov gets his campaign underway tomorrow against either Janowicz or Sela.

At Quito all three of my outright selections Karlovic (16/1), Lorenzi (7/1) and Bellucci (10/1) start their campaigns today and Thursday. Bellucci faces Tipsarevic today and the Brazilian leads the head-to-head by 2-1, which he will hopefully extend to 3-1 this afternoon. Lorenzi will face Wild Card Lapentti today or tomorrow and Karlovic will face either Martin or Estrella Burgos tomorrow.

From a match betting and trading perspective there are a few matches I like. At Montpellier qualifier and veteran Benneteau faces fellow veteran Lopez and the Frenchman leads the head-to-head 6-4. Benneteau has a couple of competitive matches under his belt already and, with the support of a passionate home crowd, he should prove too good for Lopez (1.7) who is worth opposing on this occasion.

Qualifier Kenny De Schepper faces Mischa Zverev and it’s worth opposing the German as De Shepper has the advantage of a couple of competitive matches under his belt and Zverev struggled in the Davis Cup at the weekend for Germany. Finally, at Montpellier Mathieu and Herbert both lead their head-to-heads against Millot and Hemery by 2-0 and 1-0 respectively and I’m confident both can continue that trend today and advise backing the double @ 3.1.
