Jason Day took the Bay Hill Invitational with a great up and down from the greenside bunker after Kevin Chappell had looked sure to gain his maiden win on tour. Chappell went in the rough at 18 and was forced to lay-up and ended up with a bogey, allowing the Aussie to gain his 8th career victory. Henrik Stenson and Troy Merritt made mistakes over the last four holes when in contention and are both in decent form. Day will now focus on Augusta where he has good past form finishing 2nd in 2011.
In India SSP Chawrasia finally won the Indian Open after four second places in the event holding off Lahiri, his friend and last year’s winner. This was his third European tour win but the one he will cherish most.
This week’s event is the WGC-Dell Matchplay event in Austin, Texas. Matchplay is not something I get involved in as not all players give it 100% and there have been shock winners over the years. A lot also depends on the draw but two players who do play well in this type of event are Paul Casey and Henrik Stenson. Keep stakes small.
